Macaques reach sexual maturity around 3-4 years although they often don’t start breeding until they’re older (males around 8 – females around 5). With the exception of the Celebes Macaque, females mature much earlier than males. The menstrual cycle of Macaques will occur every 28-31 days (34-36 in Celebus Macaques).
Gestation period ranges from 162 to 176 days
Infants weight between 12 and 17 ounces (346-485g). Infants will keep close contact with the mother but also develop a bond with related macaques. Offspring will often inherit the social rank of their mothers.
They always give birth of 1 baby
After a period of 10-12 months the infants are largely weaned
Macaques can live up to 30 years in captivity
